Grand Seiko GS45 Hi-Beat 36000 bph

Here is a wonderful, all original Grand Seiko GS45 Hi-Beat from 1970. The silver sunburst dial is in fine condition, with steel Seiko and GS logos and faceted steel bar hour markers with black contrast, double at 12 o’clock. Some of the hour markers show slight discoloration and there is some wear around the edge of the dial such as at around 2 and 6 o’clock. The faceted baton hands are in very fine condition. When the crown is pulled out to set time, the hack stops the seconds hand for more accurate time setting. The steel framed window at 3 o’clock displays the quick-set date. The quick-set function should only be used with the hands at the bottom half of the dial.
 
The stainless steel bezel is in very fine condition with only light overall wear. The c-shape stainless case with integrated lugs and the original GS crown is in very fine condition, with a sunburst face and brushed sides. The stainless steel case back has a well preserved gold GS medallion and is in fine condition, with a couple of noticeable scratches.
 
The watch comes on an after market leather strap of good quality.
 
Inside the watch, Seiko’s high grade 4522A movement ticks away at the then insane frequency of 36000 beats per hour, beating strongly and accurately to within about +-8 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in April 2022 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.
