Seiko Captain Willard 6105-8110

Seiko Captain Willard 6105-8110

SKU: VWS-1458

Here is a wonderful, all original Seiko “Captain Willard” from 1974 that looks much better in real life than in up close pictures. The black dial is in fine condition, with a steel Seiko logo and silver lettering. It has large lume filled steel hour markers, larger at the poles and a double chevron at 12 o’clock. Degradation can be seen on some of the hour markers. The wide baton hands are in fair condition with degraded original lume. The seconds hand has the characteristic double lume tip. The hack stops the seconds hand when the crown is pulled out to time setting mode. Note that this model cannot be manually wound, it is solely wound by the automatic system. The steel framed window at 3 o’clock displays the quick-set date. The quick-set should only be used with the hands at the bottom half of the dial.

The rotatable stainless steel bezel is in fair condition with overall wear, most pronounced at around the 0-10 minute markers. The very large stainless case with the original crown and embedded lugs is in fine condition with some overall wear, most pronounced on the right side. The stainless steel case back is in good condition with some overall wear.

The watch comes on an after market rubber diver strap of good quality. Note that vintage watches are not suitable for diving!

Inside the watch, Seiko’s high grade 6105B movement beats strongly and accurately to within about +-12 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in September 2021 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.

This model got its name from being worn by the “Captain Willard” character in Apocalypse Now and is possibly the most iconic diver’s watch there is. Captain Willard certainly was a badass and he wore a badass watch!

Our watches are delivered in a luxury wooden watch box, fully serviced with a 12 month warranty that covers the mechanical functioning of the watch under normal use. We offer 14 days full return rights and are very proud of our reputation for outstanding customer satisfaction.
