Longines Conquest Comet 18K Gold

Here is a fabulous and rare, all original Longines Conquest Comet from 1955 in a solid 18K gold case. The brushed silver dial is in very fine condition, with a golden winged hourglass logo and black script lettering. It has a radially brushed chapter ring in a different shade of silver carrying the golden shark tooth hour markers at the poles with lume dots at the outer ends and double wedged golden hour markers with lume dots at the inner ends in between. A couple of small scratches around the 1 and 2 o’clock hour markers are the main flaws, together with a small spot around the 3 o’clock hour. There are also some tiny corrosion bubbles around the dial. The golden dauphine hands are in very fine condition, with light corrosion visible on the seconds hand.
 
The solid 18K gold bezel is in very fine condition, with only light overall wear. The solid 18K gold case with the original All Guard crown and heavy drop shaped lugs is in very fine condition, with only light overall wear. The solid 18K gold case back is in very fine condition with a very well preserved Conquest enamel medallion and only a few minor marks.
 
The watch comes on an after market leather strap of good quality.
 
Inside the watch, Longines’ legendary 19AS movement beats strongly and accurately to within about +12 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in November 2020 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.
 
The Longines Conquest was one of the first watch series to be made, and the Comet name was used on only a few of them before merging into the overall Conquest line. This is a rare and fantastic specimen that is not only very collectible but looks absolutely stunning on the wrist.
