Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox Speed Beat Jumbo E875

Here is a fabulous and rare Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox Speed Beat from 1973 in a jumbo size. The silver sunburst dial is in excellent condition, with a separate chapter ring and inner dial. The chapter ring has the script JLC logo at 12 o’clock, the words “Automatic” and “Memovox” at 6 o’clock and a steel JLC logo at 9 o’clock. It has faceted steel hour markers with black contrast. Along the inner rim of the chapter ring are black painted minute markers between lume stripes for the hours. The inner dial has a black triangle showing the alarm position. It rotates to accurately set the alarm. The baton hands are in fair condition with the original lume and black contrast intact, however showing some corrosion. At 3 o’clock, the steel framed window displays the date, which can be semi quick-set by first turning the hands through midnight so the date changes, then immediately turning the hands backwards to 22:00 and then forward through midnight again. The alarm is set with the top crown. Winding the spring for the alarm is done by rotating the crown while fully depressed. By pulling the crown out one can rotate the inner dial to set the arrow at the desired alarm time. When the set time is reached the alarm buzzes loudly for about 15-20 seconds when fully wound. When the crown is in the outer position the alarm does not ring.
 
The stainless steel case with long batman lugs and the original crowns is in very fine condition, with only light overall wear on both the face and sides. The stainless steel case back with a crisp and clean JL Memovox medallion is in fine condition with some overall wear.
 
The watch comes on an after market stainless steel bracelet of good quality.
 
Inside the watch, LeCoultre’s high grade P916 automatic movement beats strongly and accurately to within about +12 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in April 2022 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.
