Grand Seiko GS56 Hi-Beat

Here is a gorgeous, all original Grand Seiko GS56 Hi-Beat from 1971. The silver sunburst dial has taken on a slight and even patina and is in very fine condition. It has steel Seiko and GS logos and strip hour markers, double marker at 12 o’clock. A small discoloration spot around the 11 o’clock hour marker is the main dial flaw. The faceted dauphine hands are in very fine condition, with the characteristic seconds hand without a central hole. The steel framed window at 3 o’clock displays the quick-set date and weekday in Kanji and English. The quick-set should only be done when the hands are at the bottom half of the dial.
 
The stainless steel bezel is in excellent condition, with only very light overall wear. The large and angular stainless steel case with the original GS crown and embedded lugs is in excellent condition, with sharp angles between the brushed face and the polished sides. It shows only very light overall wear. The stainless steel case back has a well preserved gold GS medallion and only minor wear.
 
The original Seiko stainless steel bracelet is in very fine condition with little stretching, but the GS logo has come off, which is not uncommon with these bracelets. It is large enough for big wrists.
 
Inside the watch, Seiko’s high grade 5646A movement beats strongly and accurately to within about +-10 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in April 2022 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.
