Girard Perregaux Gyrodate

Here is an exceptional, all original 1969 Girard-Perregaux Gyrodate in very minty condition. The silver dial is in excellent condition, with faceted steel bar hour markers with black contrast at the poles and black painted markers in between. The matching baton hands have the same black contrast and are in very fine condition. The window at 3 o’clock displays the date, which can be semi quick-set by repeatedly turning the hands from 21:00 through midnight. There is an additional outer ring on the dial, showing the weekdays for five weeks. This ring is used in conjunction with the bezel to see the weekdays for the whole month.
The stainless steel bezel is in very fine condition, with a couple of small marks around the numbers 3 and 19. The bezel contains the dates from 1 to 31, and when lining the date up to the current weekday, the bezel will show the correct weekdays for 31 days spanned by the bezel. To illustrate, refer to the last picture in black and white, where the date shown is 7. If the month is January 2021, then 15 May is a Wednesday and one can then see easily that 3 May is a Friday or that 26 May is a Sunday.
 
The stainless steel case with brushed sides and the original crown is in very fine condition with just a few small marks, most notable at the upper right lug. The stainless steel case back has a brushed center and polished sides with a few small scratches and marks.
 
Inside the watch, GP’s high grade 32.8 movement beats strongly and accurately to within about +-12 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in November 2020 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.
