Aquastar 63 Scubapro

Here is a beautiful, all original Aquastar 63 from 1965. The dark brownish grey sunburst dial with the rare Scubapro stamp has steel spaceship style markers at the poles with lume stripes done the center, and large lume dots for the hours in between. The color has faded slightly around the hour markers and give the dial a tropical feel that looks fantastic. The rehaut contains the rotating inner bezel with minute markings and a lume filled triangle at 12 o’clock. The bezel turns with the crown in winding position. The baton hands are in fine condition, with the original lume and some corrosion visible upon closer inspection. The wonderfully shaped seconds hand shows some corrosion. The window at 3 o’clock displays the date, which can be semi quick-set by first turning the hands through midnight so the date changes, then immediately turning the hands backwards to 20:00 and then forward through midnight again until the date changes. Repeat as necessary.

The stainless steel bezel/watch face is in very fine condition, with light overall wear and a few more noticeable marks at the upper right and lower left lugs. The slim stainless steel case with integrated lugs and the original Aquastar crown is in very fine condition, with a few marks throughout. The wonderfully designed stainless steel case back is in very fine condition, with some scratches and marks.

The watch comes on a vintage diver style rubber band that fits the watch very nicely.

Inside the watch, the venerable AS 1713 movement beats strongly and accurately to within about +-12 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in August 2020 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.

The model 63 was probably the most popular model from the iconic Aquastar brand and the Scubapro mark is the most iconic and rare of the model 63 versions. The case shape and profile has been copied countless times and the watch looks fabulous on the wrist with its large size and wonderful dial. This is a watch that can be used as a daily driver while being a great conversation starter.
