Omega Medicus
Here is a wonderful, all original Omega “Medicus” from 1939 in a midsize version. The two tone gilt dial has a black center and a brown chapter ring with Roman numerals. It looks fabulous with its weathered look from corrosion over the last 80 years. The syringe hands are in very fine condition.
The stainless steel bezel is in fine condition, with light overall wear. The stainless steel case with the original crown and long, elegant lugs is in very fine condition, with some marks at both sides and the lugs. The stainless steel case back is in fine condition with some overall wear. It carries the inscription “Omega”, “Waterproof” and “Modèle depose” (registered design).
The watch comes on an after market steel bracelet of good quality.
Inside the watch, Omega’s high grade 23.4SC movement beats strongly and accurately to within about +-15 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in December 2020 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.
The Medicus is a highly collectible, historically significant watch, as the first Omega wristwatch with a sweep seconds hand. It got the moniker “Medicus” because military medics found it much easier to read the seconds hand when taking a patient’s pulse. It is a fantastic looking watch that will add to any vintage collection and it is a tremendous conversation starter.
Our watches are delivered in a luxury wooden watch box, fully serviced with a 12 month warranty that covers the mechanical functioning of the watch under normal use. We offer 14 days full return rights and are very proud of our reputation for outstanding customer satisfaction.
